What Is
Partial Hospitalization?

A Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) or Partial Care Programs (PCP) are mental health and substance abuse treatment programs designed for short-term treatment to help patients gain the skills to transfer to a lower level of care with Outpatient or Intensive Outpatient Treatment. These day programs program is ideal for patients who experience intensified symptoms, side effects, and behavioral issues related to substance abuse or mental health.

PHP offers daily comprehensive clinical care outside of an Inpatient Program. Patients can take part in various treatments and learn routine in a safe and secure facility before returning home to their families in the evening.

Entering into a PHP is a step between a more structured Inpatient Program and Intensive Outpatient Program. If you or a loved one may benefit from a more acute level of care, Partial Hospitalization may be the ideal choice.

What Partial Hospitalization
Looks Like At Psyclarity

Each patient entering into our thorough admissions process, each patient is evaluated on an individual basis to determine the ideal level of care and treatment plans for their unique circumstances. We can treat substance use disorder or a range of mental health disorders using comprehensive clinical care designed for lasting recovery.

Using modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Group Therapy, and Individual Therapy, the patient will experience several hours of evidence-based therapeutic sessions. Family therapy may be included to help the patient and their family members process, learn, and heal from their experiences together.

The intensity and depth of the patient’s personalized care plan is based on their individual needs, concerns, and goals. Along with clinical staff, peers, and family members, patients can attend treatment sessions during the day and return to their homes at night to sleep in their own bed and spend time with family.

The structure of the program is part of the healing process and creates safety, routine, and accountability. Over time, these skills help patients reintegrate into everyday life and regain independence.

Benefits of
Partial Hospitalization Programs

PHP is less limiting than Residential Treatment Programs and provides a sense of freedom and autonomy to the patient. The day programs require structure and commitment, but once finished, patients have time to themselves.

Our patients have regular access to clinical care professionals, medical staff, and behavioral health therapists. Individual and Group Therapy sessions help patients get the support they need in confidential environments.

With these sessions and treatments, patients are equipped with coping skills, stress management skills, and positive associations to help them face challenges and overcome them. In group sessions, patients have a chance to practice these skills in role-playing scenarios and discussions.

We understand the toll that addiction and mental health conditions can take. Each step of our program is designed to provide sustainable relapse prevention and long-lasting sobriety and well-being.

Partial Hospitalization Programs may also be more affordable than Inpatient Treatment Programs and provide a natural transition with more independence. Patients can reintegrate into everyday life more successfully by balancing treatment with daily responsibilities.

Frequently Asked Questions About
Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP)

Answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about Partial Hospitalization Programs.

When Will I Go into a Partial Hospitalization Program?

A PHP occurs after inpatient and before outpatient treatment. Recovery is not cut-and-dry; there is no set timeline for when you transition to a partial care recovery center. Your care team will closely monitor your progress throughout your recovery and determine when you are ready for this level of care.

What Happens in a Partial Hospitalization Program?

This stage in treatment helps you transition from a higher level of care to more independence.

With PHP, you participate in daily therapies but return home or supportive living at the end of the day.

What Happens if I Start Using Again in PHP?

If you begin actively using substances again while in PHP, speak with our clinicians immediately to determine the best course of action. Depending on your circumstances, you may need to be readmitted to

an Inpatient rehab center or undergo detox again.

How Long Will I Be in a Partial Hospitalization Program?

Recovery is unique to every individual. The duration of a PHP program can last from anywhere from weeks to months. Your care plan will be tailored to your individual needs. You will move between phases of recovery at a pace that is right for your long term healing.
